Authoring

A useful pricing formula for Non Maintained Projects .......

An internal day rate of £350 per day, even if quoted as a fixed fee.

For example:

5 days × £350 = £1.750 price includes VAT

Allowance for information chasing, revisions and finalisation:

£1.750 + 20% = £2,100 price includes VAT

A minimum O&M commission of around £650–£750.

Small jobs can be disproportionately time-consuming to establish the structure, correspondence, document control, reviewing the information and issue the finished manual.

Additional Management Charges

As agreed in advance for additional work instigated post the review and completion dates, such as additional files for Test Certifications, As Fitted Drawing presentation, changes to the original specifications or installed equipment

£150 per hour, with one hour minimum time period applied

Updating Existing Manuals

£350 per day, with one day minimum time period applied

Note - This is a guideline to costings, each project is assessed individually and costed accordingly

Mileage cost

Mileage cost relates to £0.40 per mile

Consultancy

An internal day rate of £350 per day, even if quoted as a fixed fee.

Structures

A £500k project with dreadful information can take more work than a £3m project with disciplined subcontractors.

Number of systems/trades
Complexity and compliance
Quality of information supplied, and required
Deliverables/revisions

Standard — information supplied correctly and promptly.
Enhanced — significant authoring, restructuring and information management required.
Rescue — late appointment, incomplete information, rejected manuals or urgent handover.

The cheapest O&M Manual is rarely the cheapest option when an unacceptable manual is holding up handover and payment.
